Dental Crown Process in Belmont

A dental crown requires two visits for the treatment to be provided. It begins with the removal of any decayed or damaged tooth structure and the preparation of the remaining healthy natural tooth structure.

With our state-of-the-art 3D digital scanner, we have left the old sticky dental impression materials behind and instead, take a
high-definition scan of the teeth to enable our highly skilled lab technicians to custom to create the required crown. Dental crowns are frequently fabricated in porcelain and colour matched with the shade of your natural tooth. At times a gold crown may be desired or recommended in teeth positioned towards the back of the mouth.

A temporary crown is created and placed on the tooth for protection while the crown is being custom created.

After two weeks, during the second appointment, the temporary crown is removed and your newly fabricated crown is permanently cemented into place.

Dental Bridge

If you have lost one or more teeth, you may be a candidate for a dental bridge. A well-crafted porcelain dental bridge restores the function and the appearance of your smile.

As the name suggests, this treatment “bridges” a gap in the mouth left vacant due to tooth loss as it is permanently fixed into place. Dental bridge is an alternative to implants or partial dentures.

Dental Bridge Process

A dental bridge requires two visits for the treatment to be provided.  It begins with the preparation of the teeth on both sides of the gap which will act as anchors for the bridge. With our state-of-the-art 3D digital scanner, a high-definition scan is taken to enable our highly skilled lab technicians to custom create the required dental bridge. Dental bridges are frequently fabricated in porcelain and colour matched with the shade of your natural teeth. A temporary bridge is created and placed on the prepared teeth for protection while the dental bridge is being custom created.

After two weeks, during the second appointment, the temporary bridge is removed and your newly fabricated bridge is permanently bonded into place.

Frequently asked questions

How does a dental bridge compare with partial dentures?

The biggest difference between a bridge and a partial denture is the life span, convenience, comfort, ease of care, and improved oral health which is possible with a bridge. Removable partial dentures can sometimes feel uncomfortable when eating, are more difficult to care for and over time may cause jaw and gum health problems.

How do I care for my dental bridge?
With proper daily brushing and flossing and regular examinations by your dentist, your dental bridge will last for many years to come.
