Crowns are a restorative dental treatment that can aid in relieving weak or damaged teeth, including decayed teeth and teeth weakened by other dental procedures such as a root canal. They can be used in conjunction with other treatments such as bridges and to ensure you tooth is protected after a root canal. A crown not only has amazing oral health benefits but also adds to your natural smile. They reinforce tooth strength and ensure you smile appears whole and healthy, giving you confidence and a natural effortless appearance. Each crown is custom made to compliment your other teeth with size, colour, and texture all being considered when manufacturing the crown. This ensures that the crown fits seamlessly into the mouth and is fully functional as well.
During the treatment we will first assess your oral health and your suitability to receive a crown. Once your oral health is established and we have taken care of any pre existing conditions you will receive anesthetic and a mould of your teeth will be taken. This mould will be used to create your custom crown and ensures that it fits properly and will be fully functional. The next step is to prepare your tooth for the crown, this includes shaping the tooth and surrounding teeth if need be and fitting a temporary crown before the final one is manufactured. Once we have received the crown in the dentist you will come back for your second appointment and the crown will be fitted. Your temporary crown will be removed and your newly fabricated customized crown will be assessed for fit and comfort. Once this is established the crown will be bonded. Crowns are a long lasting dentistry solution however you should maintain regular check ups so the integrity of the crown is upheld.
As with all invasive dentistry treatments we aim to create the least painful experience possible. We will use the relevant anesthetic to ensure you experience no pain during the treatment and will aid you with pain relief after the treatment as well.
